Nubis is a state-funded initiative supported by the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is currently in the process of being established as a sustainability network for the city of Trier. The goal of Nubis is to create a non-commercial central platform that facilitates networking and collaboration among individuals, groups, and initiatives active in the field of sustainability.

In Trier, many individuals and groups are actively engaged in sustainability and climate action, yet they are often unaware of each other’s existence. Learning about others and their events is difficult through conventional platforms such as Instagram, as the sheer volume of posts and algorithm-driven feeds cause important information and announcements to be quickly overlooked.
There is a clear need for a non-commercial, non-algorithm-driven platform that brings together individuals and groups already engaged in climate action and sustainability. Such a platform should facilitate transparent networking and collaboration, making existing initiatives visible to one another and strengthening local connections. At the same time, it should serve as a central, easily accessible point of information for interested individuals, offering a clear overview of ongoing projects, upcoming events, and educational opportunities such as workshops. By reducing informational barriers and avoiding the distortions of algorithm-driven visibility, the platform would empower more people to participate, foster collaboration, and ultimately make active engagement in sustainability and climate protection more accessible and effective.
